Direct cremation is the simplest funeral option where the cremation takes place in the days immediately following the passing, and without a viewing or funeral service beforehand.
Many families hold a memorial or celebration of life service at a later date - with a direct cremation you’re able to arrange a much more personalized service, without the time and cost-pressure of a traditional funeral home.
Whether you need our services now, or you’re planning for the future, Tulip promises a simple process, transparent prices, and 24/7 best-in-class care. We’re here when you need us the most.

I can not say enough about the care and understanding I was shown by this company. They were so kind and kept me informed all through the process. My uncles ashes arrived yesterday and I was very comforted by my choice to use this company. All arrangements had to be made long distance but I never felt alone.

The Tulip Process
The end-to-end cremation process typically takes 2 weeks. Death certificates can take longer, depending on the local health department.
Step 1
Arrangements
2-4 days
Contact Tulip
Whether you contact us through our website or call our dedicated care team, we’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you make arrangements.
Collection
As soon as the arrangements have been completed and the required legal documents have been signed, we’ll bring your loved one into our care. If your loved one is in a coroner’s office or hospital, this will be during business hours. If they’re in a private residence or nursing home this will be immediate.
Step 2
Cremation
8-14 days
Death Registration
Once in our care, we register the death with the county and state. This is a legal requirement before we’re able to move forward with cremation. The speed of the death registration process depends on the responsiveness of the doctor, who is required to provide the causes of death.
Cremation
As soon as the death is registered, we’re able to move forward with the cremation. Each cremation is dignified, private and individual.
We return your loved one’s ashes to any US postal address via USPS Priority Mail Express. In some of our regions, you can choose to have them hand-delivered, or you can collect them in person.
Death Certificate
As soon as we’ve registered the death with the state, we’re able to order death certificates on your behalf. We will let you know as soon as they’re ordered. Depending upon the county, this can take 2-4 weeks, so expect the death certificates to arrive after the ashes.
