Tulip's Carbon Reduction Commitment

At Tulip Cremation, we proudly offer environmentally friendly options to every family we serve. We are mindful of the carbon footprint we leave behind. A carbon footprint refers to the carbon dioxide emissions that result anytime you use energy or products that require fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide and other harmful greenhouse gases are the primary contributors to climate change.

To reduce our carbon footprint, we are implementing a plan to offset 100% of the carbon emissions generated by our cremation processes in 2022. To achieve our goal, we will purchase carbon offsets that support projects across the country to reduce carbon in the atmosphere.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

What Are Carbon Offsets?

Carbon offsets are mechanisms to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and other harmful greenhouse gases. A carbon offset is a certificate representing the reduction of a single metric ton — 2,205 pounds — of carbon dioxide emissions. By participating in these emission reduction projects, Tulip Cremation is doing its part to reduce the damaging effects of climate change. We support other projects that lower emissions and produce renewable energy. And the fact that families can make all their arrangements online or by phone dramatically reduces the need for brick-and-mortar locations that consume additional power.

Our Carbon Reduction Plans

Our plan supports programs that reduce greenhouse gases in three ways:

1.   Capture and destroy greenhouse gas that would otherwise be emitted into the atmosphere (i.e., methane gas capture projects at landfills to produce electricity.)

2.   Produce energy using clean, renewable resources like wind power.

3.   Capture and store greenhouse gases in forests to remove them from the atmosphere.

The Impact of Our Carbon Reductions

Since our carbon reduction program began, Tulip has helped remove 17,550 metric tons in carbon reductions. That is equivalent to:
